Welcome to my blog! I am a first-year PhD student enrolled in the class Digital Rhetoric & Writing at the University of Memphis. I welcome with open arms my journey to a new location: physically, virtually and contextually. My goal for this site is to consider and respond to readings and other forms of texts as assigned, of course, but I also hope to experiment with various modes of communication that will (if I do it well) engage readers and help me to process the ways that I build relationships with others through the sharing of words, symbols, images, sounds and     space. The work of notable French philosopher Jacques Derrida largely considers the interpretation and intention of language in all the forms that exist around us (see references, Bobby) and how contextual frameworks influence these processes. As an island girl in a global setting, I am particularly interested in how such frameworks collide.

"A composition is an expression of  relationships - between parts and parts, between parts and whole, between the visual and the verbal, between text and context, between reader and composer, between what is intended and what is unpacked, between hope and realization. And, ultimately, between human beings."       Kathleen Blake Yancey
